Mozizi - Original Soundtrack by Tofa Jaxx
Tofa Jaxx’s song Mozizi is an original soundtrack whose signature jazzy soulful lyrics and beats breath life through the urban scapes of Dar es Salaam in all its rich, pastel textured architecture in Kijiweni Productions animation short Mozizi.
The original soundtrack will have its official release on August 20th 2021 in run up to the animations release in early September 2021 with a premiere in London.
Mozizi made an early impression during its preview screening, winning the Ousmene Sembene award at the 24th Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF). This short, supported by Comic Relief, was developed over three months working with a team of local animators who brought to life the buzzing ideas of writer/director Amil Shivji in Kijiweni’s first animated film.
Synopsis:
Mozizi is a female anthropomorphic character who is on a quest to find a new ‘home’ after her breeding grounds have been destroyed by fumigation. Followed by a documentary crew, she witnesses urban preventive measures to malaria and ironically attempts to justify her presence to the people of Tanzania.
