The pianist Grégory Privat ranks among the outstanding representatives of Caribbean-influenced jazz. The rhythms and melodies of his native Martinique permeate his compositions, infusing them with a vibrant blend of spirituality, Creole chants, urban pop, and electro.
Grégory Privat is not only a guardian of his cultural heritage but also an explorer of new sonic territories. He excels both at the piano and with expressive vocals, enhanced by synthesizers and effects.
2024 marks a pinnacle in his career with the release of his album "PHOENIX", symbolizing his quest for artistic renewal and celebrating the life, history, and encounters that shape his music. With "PHOENIX", Grégory Privat presents his new program, continuing his artistic journey following the album "SOLEY" from 2020. The album celebrates the cycle of life and constant rebirth, symbolized by the phoenix bird. He is accompanied by bassist Chris Jennings and drummer Tilo Bertholo, forming an extraordinary trio.
His musical journey began on the island of Martinique, an endless source of inspiration for his creations. As the son of a pianist who was a member of a renowned Martinican band, Privat was introduced to the world of music at a young age. After a solid classical education, he discovered his passion for composing and improvising in jazz. His path led him from the jazz clubs of Toulouse, through the bustling streets of Paris, to international stages, where he collaborated with outstanding artists such as Stéphane Belmondo, Rémi Vignolo, and Guillaume Perret.
