THE POET OF SEMBA & KIZOMBA

Paulo Flores is one of the most important representative of Angolan music and vigorous advocate of Semba. In the 80´s he recorded his first hit at only 16 years old. Paulo is one of the musical founders of Angola’s most popular dance music: Semba and Kizomba, which started the dance movement 'Kizomba' all around the world. He shared stages with some of the biggest names in the Afro-Luso music. In 2007, Paulo Flores was selected as the UN Goodwill Ambassador for Angola.

His music draws poetic sketches about love and life, as well as Angola's history and politics and gives a voice to the soul of a nation by preserving Angola's story.

Paulo Flores inscribes his work in a language that is based on the search for appreciation of the Angolan musical heritage, with room for the influence of other musical genres. It appears today in this successful mixture of Caribbean, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban and African influences.
